Chunky Fruit Slice

I just found an old multi-coloured recipe that the children went through a stage of baking frequently.

Turn the oven on to 180ºC

Melt 125g butter (or get an adult to help you if you’re too little to use the stove)

Add 1C flour
          1C coconut
          1t baking powder

Press into a lined swiss roll tin

Bake for ten minutes

Sprinkle over
           1C raisins     
           1C chopped dates
           1C cashew nuts

OR     1C prunes
          1C apricots
          1C pecans

Pour over
           1 tin condensed milk

Bake another 20 minutes until golden

Leave to cool

Cut with a sharp knife
