Apple Roly-Poly

We used to make this in Poland all the time. It takes only a few basic ingredients, and it really doesn’t matter how bad the apples are!

250g flour
2t baking powder
salt
   Sift

30g butter
   Rub in

2 egg
100ml milk or water
   Beat and add to flour
   Roll out to 5mm thick

2 apples, grated
45g sultanas
30g walnuts, chopped
2T honey
   Spread on dough
   Roll up from long side
   Cut into 2.5cm slices
Place into greased baking dish, leaving plenty of room to rise

450g sugar (or much less – we never used that much!)
15g butter
1t cinnamon
1l boiling water
   Pour over
Bake at 180ºC for 35-40 minutes
