There’s wisdom in the adage to put your fields in order before building your house!

The garden is giving us such joy.
Most of it’s only three weeks old, but already this week our fruit-n-vege bill was down to $20, and that included the fruit for jam-making and fresh fruit juicing. (For comparison, the last couple of weeks we’ve been spending more than twice that amount to feed all of us lots of fresh greens). Our plants are still mostly little, but big enough to grab enough leaves to make a substantial salad – five or six different types of lettuce plus basil, chives, lemon balm, thyme and a chilli….the bok choy is flourishing.
Seeds I planted not even a week ago to fill up the gaps, have poked through the ground and it will soon be crowded.

  1. you certain have the knack.. or the section.. my garden has been a fantastic flop this year, quite literally- my cucumbers & a tomato withered to the ground over night! 😉

    • Answering two weeks late! I think the trick might be warm soil, lots of compost, plenty of water and a dash of good luck. In just a month our patch is overgrown and bursting with foodie goodness. Come help yourself!
